Yes, that viral spaghetti. I finally caved. I hid vegetables, used two kinds of meat, drowned it in sauce, and now I understand the hype. Kids didn’t see a thing. Bank account still intact. Everyone ate. Iconic behavior.
For the Meat Sauce:
1. Sauté the microscopically diced onion and green bell pepper in 1 tbsp butter. Add 2 tbsp chopped garlic and cook until fragrant.
2. Add 1 lb ground beef and 1 lb mild Italian sausage to the pan and brown, breaking up the meat. Drain any excess grease.
3. Stir in 1 jar spaghetti sauce and approximately 2 tsp each of parsley, basil, and oregano, along with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Simmer the sauce.
For the Alfredo Situation:
1. Melt 1 stick (4 ounces) of butter in a separate pan.
2. Add 3 cups heavy cream, 1 tbsp garlic, and 2 cups freshly grated parmesan cheese.
3. Season well with salt and pepper. Keep the sauce runny; this is not the time to be shy.
Assembly:
1. Cook 1 lb spaghetti al dente according to package instructions. Rinse the cooked noodles with cold water (yes, really).
2. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer the cooked spaghetti noodles.
3. Pour the Alfredo sauce over the noodles, ensuring everything is well coated.
4. Spread the meat sauce over the Alfredo-coated noodles.
5. Top generously with mozzarella cheese (measure with your heart).
Bake:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
2. Bake the spaghetti for 25–30 minutes.
3. Finish with fresh parsley if you want to feel fancy before serving.
